Name: Ashfae
Preferred Pronoun: She
Contact: ashfae @ plurk
Character
Name: Eowyn, the White Lady of Rohan
Canon: Lord of the Rings
Pull-point: Return of the King, in the Houses of Healing; after being healed by Aragorn and called back by Eomer, but before meeting Faramir.
Power Opt-in post link: Not applicable.
Content Opt-out post link: Pretty sure also not applicable but I can make one if needed.
Age: 24
Gender/Sex: Female.
Appearance: Tall for a human woman, grey-eyed, with pale gold hair that falls to her waist. She is very fair of skin, and even more so at the moment as she's still recovering from the Black Breath. While she is a beautiful woman, she appears distant and cold, and is currently haggard, as though recovering from a grave illness.
History: Eowyn was the niece of Theoden, King of Rohan; she loved Aragorn, and chafed at being left as a caretaker instead of being allowed to ride into battle with those she loved. She disguised herself as a man and rode to Minas Tirith with the army, taking the hobbit Merry with her. To protect the mortally injured Theoden, together they faced the Witch-King of Angmar, who could not be defeated by any man--a loophole Eowyn and Merry were very willing to exploit since it applied to neither of them.
Unfortunately she was gravely injured by the Witch-King, and weakened by her own despair and frustration, so she succumbed to the Black Breath. She rescued and healed in part thanks to Aragorn and athelas, and was called back from death by her brother Eomer's love; she then remained in the Houses of Healing to recover further.
Personality: Eowyn is a woman of great courage, duty, and restlessness, turned cold and distant through long years of loneliness and being stifled. Once, she dreamed of glory in battle and taking her part in the legends of her people; to her this was the best possible life and death, and also in a sense her duty as one of the royal family. Now she's faced war and evil but remains alive, against her wishes and intentions. The man she loved does not return her feelings; her uncle is dead and her brother's fate still uncertain. Eowyn is healed of the worst of the Black Breath, but her life is still very bleak. In a sense she is free of the cage that bound her, but she no longer knows what she wants. Even so, she remains fiercely proud, refusing to be pitied.
Underneath all this she has a warm nature, capable of very deep love and friendship; her loyalty to those she cares for is as absolute as her devotion to her duty, even if it costs her dearly on a personal level.
Abilities: Eowyn is a skilled swordswoman, though she'll be hampered for a while as she heals; in addition to the wounds to her soul, her shield arm was badly broken. She is excellent with horses, training and caring for them, like all the Rohirrim. She can lead, though she has more experience organizing in the domestic sphere, much to her dislike.
Inventory: Her clothes, which are a white dress made of some fine material, and a starry dark blue overrobe edged with gold embroidery. A heavy, fur-lined blanket. A ridiculously over-embroidered pillow that's probably terribly uncomfortable.
Anything else: Book version, for the most part, but a few film differences may sneak their way in. (NOT that blasted cooking scene)
